Online Functional Skills Maths course

New for 2019, we are now offering Online Functional Skills Maths courses at Levels 1 and 2. Although the course is online, you will have full support from a tutor from start to finish. However, to work flexibly and remotely requires commitment, self-discipline and an understanding that an online course can take more commitment than a classroom taught course because you need to prioritise your learning.

The course is ideal for those who:

– are at home looking after children, or have other carer responsibilities

– can’t attend traditional classroom-based courses due to work commitments, lack of transport or other reasons.

You also need to have the time to respond to your tutor in a timely way through various communication methods; this is very important as it supports your success as a flexible learner.

We can offer support with access to equipment, such as a laptop, to allow you to complete the course, but you will need to be able to access the internet.

Course duration: 15 weeks

Cost: FREE – For anyone who does not have a C or above in GCSE, O level, or CSE Grade 1, or A-level Grade E or above

You will need to take a skills check prior to coming on the course so we can assess which Level you will be working towards. These will take place at our hub in the Oakham Enterprise Park.

To register your interest, please call 01572 758283 or email Joanna.edwards@peterborough.ac.uk

I’m a parent to three children and after an extremely tough few years, I was re-housed within Rutland.

I feel stronger and more confident and I’ve met some nice new friends.

I would strongly urge anybody to join a course at RALS and get something back for the better in your life and improve your confidence and self-esteem. Becky

I am in the advanced Italian Class

My experience is that through having attended the adult education classes my Italian has improved beyond my wildest expectations.

I now converse comfortably face to face and on the phone, whilst thinking in Italian. Working Student

Advanced Italian

At my interview I was asked about what I had been doing. I mentioned I had college on a Thursday and they were impressed with what I had been doing.

It has taken a little while to do but it is worth it in the end.

I enjoy coming to see my friends in class and interact with them.

First day at work tomorrow! Michael
