Who is it for?
This course is for adults aged 19+ who want to learn how to use a sewing machine or refresh their sewing machine knowledge.
What will I learn?
You will learn how to use your sewing machine by applying correct techniques, troubleshoot common problems and make informed needle and thread choices to achieve great results.
You’ll explore:
- threading your sewing machine correctly
- matching the correct needle, thread and stitch size/type to fabric
- conducting basic servicing of your machine
- applying stitches for overcasting, blind hemming, buttonholes, and free motion sewing and zips
What could I do after this?
The knowledge you will gain will enable you to apply several techniques and work with all kinds of fabrics. You could also progress to other sewing classes with RALSS or other providers, e.g. Introduction to Dressmaking, Introduction to Patchwork or Home Furnishings, or set up your own craft business such as those on Etsy or eBay.
