Who is it for?
Learners of all abilities are welcome, from complete beginners to those wanting to develop their skills/personal style.
What will I learn?
Sessions will take a workshop-style format where you will be introduced to specific hand-building and surface decoration techniques. You will be given time to practice techniques and build your skills to create your own ceramic objects under guidance from the tutor. There are also two pottery wheels for learners to use on an ad-hoc basis.
Please note there is a charge of 80p per 100g for finished work.
What could I do after this?
Workshops at RALSS continue through the academic year and learners progress by learning new skills and techniques along the way. Advice is given to those wanting to set up their own workshops at home and many have done this. Information on local exhibitions, pottery markets and specific short courses is shared to provide inspiration for learners. There are further courses at colleges such as De Montfort University and Loughborough University for learners who want to progress further.
