Who is it for?

This qualification is suitable for anyone aged 19+ who’s interested in working in a school or college setting.


What will I learn?

This qualification will introduce you to the key principles of working in education. Content includes:

  • school and college organisational structures and functions
  • development of children and young people and influences on this
  • communication with children, young people and adults
  • developing professional relationships with children and adults
  • health and safety policies and procedures in a learning environment
  • safeguarding children and young people
  • equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment

This qualification is internally assessed, so there will be no exams. You will instead build a portfolio of evidence with the support of your tutor, which will be externally verified at the end of the course.


What could I do next?

This qualification shares three mandatory units with the NCFE CACHE Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning, providing a direct progression route onto a qualification that is favourable to employers looking to recruit teaching assistants.
