Who it’s for:
This course is aimed at adults aged 19+ who want to improve their Italian skills and have completed the A2.1 level. It is suitable for those who have knowledge of the present and past tense, including the imperfect, the future and some conditional; who can recognise and use direct and indirect pronouns at a basic level, and are able to use basic expressions and vocabulary, mainly useful for travelling or to describe basic past and present events.
What you’ll learn:
This course will teach you how to use a range of topics and expressions, whilst acquiring a deeper understanding of the structure of the language. Previous grammar knowledge will be consolidated and new elements will be introduced and put into practice. Speaking, listening, reading and writing will be further developed, with emphasis on natural conversational skills and elements of the Italian culture. Content includes:
- Recognising the key words and main meanings of videos and audio files at level A2
- How to produce a piece of writing and complete reading comprehension tasks at A2 level
- How to describe a house or an apartment inside and outside using a range of new words
- Retrieving all the verb tenses learnt and using them coherently
- Using the subjunctive when expressing opinions, hope and necessities
- Talking about at least a couple of new cultural traditions or information learnt
- Translating a piece of A2 writing from Italian to English and vice versa
- Starting to talk almost solely in Italian during the lesson
What could I do after this?
Your newly-gained skills will help you to communicate in Italian at home or abroad. You could also continue to develop your skills by attending further Italian courses with RACL. This course will move up the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), and the next level after A2 is B1. Alternatively, you could seek Italian courses with other local providers, such as GoLearn! (Leicestershire), Leicester Adult Education, Leicester College, 2aspire (Lincolnshire) or WEA.
