Who is it for?
This course is for adults aged 19+ whose Italian skills are at an upper level, can converse with fluency and understand the main points of texts, videos and audio files at B1/B2 level. Learners joining this course will have a knowledge of everyday expressions, together with a familiarity with the level B1 grammatical structures.
What will I learn?
This course will teach you how to use a range of topics and expressions, whilst acquiring a deeper understanding of the structure of the language. Previous grammar knowledge will be consolidated and new elements will be introduced and put into practice. Speaking, listening, reading and writing will be further developed, with emphasis on natural conversational skills and elements of the Italian culture.
Content includes:
- Communicating almost solely in Italian through the lesson
- How to express opinions, in particular about where to live, who to live with, volunteering and other lifestyle choices, including cultural differences with Italy
- Understanding cultural differences and similarities, particularly through the use of proverbs, idiomatic expressions and pronominal verbs
- Learning about cultural facts and traditions whilst enhancing listening and reading comprehension skills
- Reviewing and discussing a book or a short story
- How to express a complaint through writing and colloquially
- How to effectively use all pronouns, conjunctions and prepositions
- Improving your writing, speaking and listening skills, together with intonation and pronunciation
- Confidently translating from English to Italian
What could I do after this?
Your newly-gained skills will help you to communicate in Italian at home or abroad. You could also continue to develop your skills by attending further Italian courses with RACL. This course will move up the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), and the next level after B2 is C1. Alternatively, you could seek Italian courses with other local providers, such as GoLearn! (Leicestershire), Leicester Adult Education, Leicester College, 2aspire (Lincolnshire) or WEA.
