Who is it for?

This course is suitable for adults aged 19+ who don’t have maths GCSE at C/4 or above, can use a sewing machine and would like to make a patchwork cushion.

What will I learn?

You will develop the skills needed to make a patchwork cushion using a sewing machine in a small, friendly group.

You’ll learn how to use a rotary cutter to accurately cut your patchwork fabric, use a sewing machine to join and quilt the fabric, assemble and bind your cushion, then complete your design with hand-stitching.

What could I do after this?

You could join future classes, such as RALSS’ First Quilt workshop or classes delivered elsewhere, and continue to develop your sewing skills.

You could also continue to improve your numeracy skills by joining courses at RALSS or other providers, such as budgeting, crafty maths or Functional Skills qualifications.

This free course is funded through our Multiply maths programme, so is only available to adults who:

  • are aged 19+
  • have lived in the UK for at least three years
  • do not have Maths GCSE at C/4 or above
