Who is it for?
This course is suitable for adults with basic Maths skills who want to develop their confidence and knowledge, and gain an accredited Level 1 or 2 qualification.
What will I learn?
You will develop knowledge and skills in areas such as numbers, measures, shapes, space, and handling information and data. These subjects will be delivered step-by-step by an experienced tutor, but you will also need to practice your new skills at home.
This qualification is assessed via an exam consisting of a non-calculator section and a calculator section. The exam usually takes place one week after the end of the course.
What could I do after this?
Your new skills and confidence could help you in lots of ways – managing your finances, helping children with their homework, finding your dream job, progressing your career and more.
You could also progress onto a higher-level Maths qualification, such as Level 2 Functional Skills or GCSE, or gain your Functional Skills English or Digital Skills qualifications if you are eligible. Courses are available through RALSS or other providers such as GoLearn! (Leicestershire), Leicester Adult Education, Leicester College, 2aspire (Lincolnshire) or WEA.
