Who is it for?
The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is suitable for anyone working in early years education and care.
What will I learn?
This qualification will prepare you to become an Early Years Practitioner. You will gain knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years, with applied knowledge in the early years (0 – 5 years).
It comprises of 14 mandatory units, including the roles and responsibilities of the Early Years Practitioner, supporting children’s development, promoting play in an Early Years Setting, supporting the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability and supporting the needs of the child in preparing for school.
This qualification meets the Department for Education’s Level 2 full and relevant criteria that set out the knowledge, understanding and skills that a practitioner must demonstrate to achieve an Early Years Practitioner qualification and be considered as qualified to support young children in the Early Years Foundation Stage. Once you have completed the qualification, you will be able to be counted towards the staff:child ratio at Level 2.
To show competence in your knowledge and skills, you will need to be working in early education and care. It is recommended that you complete 250 placement hours during this qualification. Placement must allow for skills application with babies and young children sufficient to meet the assessment criteria for the qualification.
