This online course will introduce you to creative writing in a safe and supported environment. You’ll
be encouraged to think creatively and experiment with language in a range of forms, including prose
and poetry. You’ll gain an insight into some of the devices and techniques used by writers, unlock
your imagination and start to produce work of your own. The course will be delivered online and
each session will offer a mix of tutor presentations, short, fun and engaging writing exercised,
opportunities to share your work with other learners and give and receive feedback, tutor feedback
on your work and reading and writing activities to take away.
Course outcomes:
Learners will be able to:
• Explore practical ways of gaining inspiration to write in a range of forms
• Recognise and develop their own writing skills
• Identify techniques used by writers and begin to apply these in their own writing
• Produce several short pieces of writing
• Share their writing, benefitting from and contributing to group feedback
• Establish their own priorities as a writer and identify how to progress in the future

You will need a computer, laptop or tablet with a microphone and preferably a camera, a reliable
internet connection and a notepad and pen.
